Real Madrid are expected to aim for the signing of a new central defender in 2025, given that they are short in the position because of the summer departures of Nacho Fernandez and Rafa Marin – and even more so in recent weeks as Eder Militao and David Alaba are both unavailable due to injury.
Given that no money was spent during the summer, Real Madrid would splash out on a major signing. According to reports, William Saliba is one of the dream candidates, although the player himself admitted earlier this weekend (via MD) that he would be reluctant to leave Arsenal.
“I feel at home. I signed for the club five years ago, but it’s only my third season and I’m enjoying everything: the players, the staff and the fans. I feel at home, so of course why not stay?”
Prizing Saliba away from Arsenal would be very difficult – and extremely costly. However, no one would rule Real Madrid out of doing that if they decide it is the right move.
